Normally about this time of year I start thinking about the weight I'd like to lose and the grades I'll probably end up getting in my college courses anyway. This year I decided to say screw it. I make resolutions because I do better with goals but this year I'm not focusing them on my weight. I'm still going to work on losing the weight and getting healthy but I'm not making some goal to be able to work toward and hopefully hit. I haven't been able to in the past few years so I'm not going to waste my resolution and time doing it this year. It'll just be in the back of my mind.
My goal for this year was to get 40 stories submitted. I got really close. I'm at 37 right now and if I can get the book I'm working on right now done then I'll have 38 in by midnight on New Year's Eve. That would be ideal and I'll do my best to make it happen.
My focus for 2014 is to write longer stories and wrap up my series before jumping into a lot of new ones that I have started and in the planning stages. I'll also have a few co-authored books coming out next year as well which is exciting because I absolutely adore my two co-authors. So my total submission goal for next year is 20 books. Half of this year's goal but each one will be at least twice as long as most of the books I submitted this year. I like writing shorter works as well but I'm finding that novels and long novellas are where I'm heading currently.
For series and sequels here's what you can look forward to for next year-
Pine Hollow Wolves will be complete in February and A Pine Hollow Wolves Story will be complete on January 15th. These are Samson and Evangeline's books. Any further books with the Pine Hollow Wolves characters will be spin off series.
A Forever Home book 1, Rescuing Jack, comes out in Jan/Feb through Dreamspinner Press. I'll be writing at least the next two books in that series next year though I don't have control over when they come out.
Max and Simon of my Serving Simon series will have two more books to make that a trilogy.
The Little Crow will have a few more books in that series. I'm planning at least two and there may be more. They will all be long novella to novel length and at least one will come out next year.
Saving His Sky Captain will have a sequel that will be out sometime around summer 2014.
Song of the Sea is a YA MMF trilogy about Hannah and her two best friends finding love. This character is from the Pine Hollow Wolves series and if you enjoyed reading about her in that series you may like her books as well. These books will be out in the spring.
Marked by Grief is one of the books people most ask for a sequel for. I wrote that book as a way to deal with my own grief and frustration in the wake of the death of someone close to me. It is an extremely personal book to me and I've held off writing a sequel because I wanted to give Kit a way to deal with what he was going through and start to heal from the death of his brother. I'm happy to say that I will be writing his sequel in the coming months and it will hopefully be out in the fall.
Happy New Year everyone and I hope next year is beautiful and full of joy for you all. Thank you for your continued support, for reading my books, for sending me messages about what you liked or even didn't like, and for continuing to read.
