This is the first time this season that any amount of snow has stayed around for more than a day and not only am I glad to not have to go out in it since I work from home but also that the new car is an all wheel drive. My fiance's last car was horrible in the snow. My little compact sedan did better in it and that thing is a mess when I try to take it out in anything deeper than an inch. Or maybe I'm the mess and its completely fine. Either way, new car is great.
This week has been fairly crazy. I was given a new deadline by a publisher and got to work, knowing that I had to make it a priority. I surprised myself by getting them the story in just a few short days. My sleep last night was ruined because of my staying up late to write but it was worth it I think.
Tomorrow is a mini Thanksgiving with my family. I don't have much of it and very little in Colorado so instead of splitting the holidays up and saying we'll do one with one family this year and one with another the next we end up doing both. On Thanksgiving day we will be with my fiance's family which will be a lot quieter than usual because not only are some of them not going to be there for their various reasons but also because this is the first year that my sister-in-law is away with the army. She's still in AIT and when she comes back she's in the reserves and starts school in the spring but I know its hard for her family not to have her there all the time and to miss her. I grew up in an environment where people were gone for holidays because they were serving and so to me this is normal. But I can see how much her mom misses her.
NaNoWriMo was an interesting experience this year. I started out with one book in mind that I was going to write- Moon Chilled. It'll still get done and submitted by the end of the month but I've also submitted a novel and two novellas as well as nearing the end of the novel my co-author, Cari Z, and I are writing. So while I've written more than 50k this month, I don't have a single book to point to and say that's what I slaved over for the past few weeks.
My next release is on the first of December. The Little Crow is an expanded novel that is over 80k long and is coming out through Amber Allure. Now, you might remember Mal, Jamison and the Heart of Darkness Series already. This novel is those two first novellas plus another novella that is brand new and shows their relationship growing.
I learned a lot from my self publishing adventure and while I'll be self pubbing again in the future, it won't be right now. If you liked Mal and Jamison before and want to see if he's able to win his detective's heart I hope you'll consider picking up The Little Crow.
I hope all of you have a great weekend and enjoy it no matter where it finds you.
